ERGONOMICS STUDY. The labor services division 1 2 of the department of workforce development, in consultation 1 3 with stakeholder groups representing employers and employees, 1 4 shall conduct a study on the feasibility and economic 1 5 impact of establishing an ergonomics standard in this state 1 6 for workplaces prone to repetitive motion injuries. The 1 7 study shall include the feasibility and economic impact of 1 8 implementing a program to minimize repetitive motion injuries 1 9 in the workplace, which would include workplace evaluations, 1 10 control of exposures which cause repetitive motion injuries, 1 11 and employee training. The division shall submit a report on 1 12 the findings and recommendations of the study to the general 1 13 assembly by December 20, 2013. 1 14 EXPLANATION 1 15 This bill requires the labor services division of the 1 16 department of workforce development, in consultation with 1 17 stakeholder groups representing employers and employees, 1 18 to conduct a study on the feasibility and economic impact 1 19 of establishing an ergonomics standard in this state for 1 20 workplaces prone to repetitive motion injuries.
